Step 1: Cook the Pasta
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add cavatelli pasta and cook until al dente according to package instructions. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water before draining.Step 2: Cook the Broccoli
Add broccoli florets to the pasta water during the last 3 minutes of cooking, or cook separately by steaming until tender but still slightly firm.Step 3: Sauté Garlic
In a large pan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Do not burn.Step 4: Combine Everything
Add broccoli to the pan, then add drained pasta. Toss well and add a small amount of reserved pasta water to create a light sauce.Step 5: Season and Serve
Add salt, red pepper flakes (optional), and grated Parmesan cheese. Mix well and serve immediately.
